i am begging web developers. they are called check boxes. the "check" part of the "check" "box" is an unambiguous indicator as to an enabled state.
if you look at this and thought "oh, when they're dark, they're enabled": no. white is enabled. black is disabled.
this is what i mean when grump about web shit: you have to try to fuck this. if you just put a simple-ass input type=check into your site, you will get a happy box ☑️. you have to intentionally fuck this up.
