(standard order: large iced white mocha)
- forgot to buy coffee (you would think seattle grocery stores would carry decent beans they do not)
- forgot to buy milk (had to drive to store while espresso sat on counter)
- forgot to buy chocolate powder (ovaltine is not adequate substitute)
- put ice in espresso before milk (now impossible to measure milk accurately; final product diluted)
- forgot to stir chocolate powder (lumpy.......)
- left grinder on french press setting (did not notice; attempted to use result in espresso machine)
- left grinder set to grind 55 grams (basket holds 17g; remainder overflowed onto countertop)
- forgot to put cup in espresso machine (pulled shot directly into drain)
- forgot to put basket in espresso machine (fresh steaming cup hot dirty water)
list will be extended in future as i make further mistakes
The paradox of making coffee is that you have to make it while you are in a state called "needing coffee" which reduces your ability to accomplish tasks with any complexity
When you’re a professional beansmith you’re in this situation for at least a few hours every shift and the worst part is if you mention being tired or needing coffee to any customer they will always go “but you work in a coffee shop!!” and you aren’t allowed to do anything except say haha yea :)
